Interviews: Toolkit for Selling Yourself
So, you have been through the tedious process of applying for job sonline and calling endlessly and finally discovered my article Instant Impact CVs. You've implemented my simple tips, re-vitalized and individually-tailored your CV. Hurray! Now you're offered an interview.
But until the offer letter is in your hand, the competition still goes on, and the impression you give in your interview can influence what you get offered. Your CV was the attention-grabbing movie poster; your interview will be the high-impact theatrical trailer.
With competition among vacancies high, it simply doesn't cut it to turn up with polished shoes and unravel you life experiences. A great interview is really a sales pitch hidden in a two way conversation. You have to persuade your audience, build a relationship, create trust and energize the interviewer. This is the art of any sales pitch but this time the product is you, so you better believe in it.
If you think of an interview in this way you are sure to succeed. I have highlighted some easy to learn points to help you ensure you do your best.
1) Presentation
You cannot be too presentable or too early for a job interview. If unsure, don't take risks and go overly dressed rather than underdressed. You can, however, wear too much make-up or cologne: easy does it.2) The Three Ps - Prepare, Prepare, Prepare
Take copies of your Instant Impact CV and, most importantly, know exactly what is on it.Certificates, references and examples of work should also be to hand.3) Do your research
If you were a salesperson, you would do enough homework to be able to identify useful connections that you can trigger throughout the conversation. The same applies for interviews.
Get the low-down on the company. Study their website. Google them. Get a copy of their last annual report. What is their mission statement, their competition?Rehearse for: "What do you know about us?" and "Why do you want to work here?"Get closer. Ask who will be interviewing you. Google them. Learn names, roles and areas of interest or expertise.Get inside. Best of all, find someone who has worked in or with the company and grill them.4) Keep Calm And Carry On
Nerves are one of the biggest challenges. Unfortunately, they show and don't look good. You will think more clearly and build rapport far more effectively when calm.
While waiting for your interview clear your mind, try and relax and get comfortableRemind yourself that you have been invited to this interview. You are already succeeding.Any dancer will tell you. Smile. Act confident even if you're shaking inside. Keep going even if you made a mistake.5) Body Language
However well-rehearsed you are, non-verbal cues are picked up unconsciously and talk far louder than words.
Shake hands well. An overly-aggressive handshake can be as off-putting as a limp one.Eye contact. People hear us better when we hold their gaze.Take a lesson from James Bond. He sits still, without movement or fidgeting, with his hands away from his face. And it warms with power and intelligence.Avoid "closing" yourself off by clutching a briefcase in your lap.Room positioning: if possible don't sit directly opposite but at 90 degrees.6) Ask Questions and Listen
Most candidates prepare answers but forget to prepare questions. Asking key questions-and listening carefully-lets you direct the conversation into the areas where you excel. It also has a powerful effect in building trust as showing empathy and allows the interviewer to express whats in their mind gives a helpful feel good factor that they will remember.
Build a bond. Ask about their rise to success. How they got to their position. Where they started out. People love to tell about their success story and it builds a bond and helps you understand them.Join the tribe through finding areas of commonality. If you spot a link, be sure to use it to build a bond. Through creating rapport, interviewers will trust you, overlook weaknesses and accept you as a likeable person.Detect Hot Buttons: An interviewer's unspoken concerns. Use their answers to frame your ongoing conversation. You'll connect with the interviewer instantly if you sell yourself based on his or her motivations."What do you consider an ideal candidate?" Be prepared to compare yourself to this.7) Ready for Questions
A top salesperson would never waste an opening by answering "Yes" or "No". Nor would they regurgitate a rambling summary of their entire life. "Tell us a little about yourself," is an opportunity to use relevant anecdotes that align with the company's mission to offer information they haven't already seen in your Instant Impact CV.
Listen carefully and breathe. Don't rush to answer.Ask yourself, "Is he really interested in what I did in college, or does he want to know what I learned from the experience?"Use key messages and sound-bites to sell. An effective headline communicates the benefits of the product in a succinct, meaningful, memorable way: "I've designed logos for three Fortune 500 companies." To come up with your sound bites, ask yourself, "What were my greatest achievements at my most recent job?"Use examples and tell a story. People can relate better in this way.8) Be the Solution
As a salesperson (interviewee), what can you offer (product), to the customer (employer)? What do you have that will fill their needs (job requirements)? What is unique or of added value that sets you apart?
Meet Needs. Any great salesman will tell you that the most persuasive pitch is the one that speaks directly to the personal needs of the buyer.Read between the lines. "Position requires collaboration on all levels of staff and management," means that "strong interpersonal" and "communication" skills will be needed. Make a list of "key requirements" and match them.Companies create positions because they have problems to solve. Identify the challenges hinted at in the job ad.Presentyourself as an employer benefit. Any answer you give must convey how hiring you will give concrete benefits to the employer. If you increased managerial productivity by 25%, say that experience will help this company attain its goals.9) Use the interview as an opener
As a clever salesperson identifies the small steps needed to move the sale forward. Understand the necessary stages to keep the interview process moving forward toward a job offer.
Don't negotiate salary or benefits at this stage. Leave this for the second interview.Next steps. Asking for the next interview may seem bold, but try it. You'll find yourself invited back more often and feel more in control of the interview process. Try: "Who will I meet in the second interview?""Who, besides yourself, will make the final hiring decision?""What challenges would you have me tackle first?"Leave on a High Note. Have a 20-second thank-you speech. Thank them for their time, reiterate your interest in helping them be successful.10) Manners
It may sounds obvious, but the best salesmen are almost over-the-top with politeness. This is even truer in the Middle East.
Pay particular attention to the interviewer's name. Use it.Thank them and shake hands before you leave. Thank the interviewer for his or her time and indicate your interest in the job.Send a follow-up thank you email. This shows good business etiquette.11) The Return of the Three Ps - Practice, Practice, Practice
So, now you have all the inside tricks of the sales trade. BUT, an interview is no place to try these strategies out for the first time.
The secret to effective selling is practice. Stand in front of the mirror or rehearse with friends. Whatever works.Have a shot at an interview even if you don't see yourself working for the company. Its good practice. Give it a go.You cannot forecast the exact questions you will face, but the process of sifting through your experience for specific examples to potential questions will better prepare you.The better you are at weaving your key messages into your answers, the more likely you are to stand out in the interviewer's mind. And setting yourself apart is what interviewing is all about. The last factor for your sale is to let the employer know that you will "fit in" and be a "team player". The interviewer will not only be looking to see if you can do the job, but also if you will be a good addition to the team and fit the corporate culture. So be likable and be you. These skills could make the difference between yourself and an equally or better qualified candidate getting the job. Good luck, be confident and just remember a famous quote by someone who got it right -
"If you think you can do a thing or think you can't do a thing, you're right."
Henry Ford.

Are you considering a change of job or career? Before making your next move, it would help you to learn that your best bet while searching a new job for whatever reasons is the Internet.
The Internet is akin to a vast library that contains all the newspapers, job boards and job searching websites. That makes it an ideal choice of jobseekers looking for a change of career or job. Nevertheless, the large number of available options can be overwhelming if you are not organized in your job search efforts. You'll find the following tips of help while searching for jobs on the Internet.
Prepare a perfect and persuasive resume
This is the most critical part of your search. You should know that on average a prospective employer doesn't spend more than ten seconds to go through your resume. So, you need to make your resume catchy by highlighting your qualifications and traits that are directly related to the job you may be applying for. The prospective employers, during the short span of time they spend going through your resume, look for these aspects.
If your research reveals some appropriate job opening for you, it's imperative that you amend your resume to specifically suit that opening before posting your resume online.
Start visiting job search websites
You can find many job search websites that help you getting started with your search. Many of these permit you to upload your resume and apply for jobs using their site. You can also find sites that specialize in posting jobs available in your local or geographical area.
Search jobs on job boards.
These days, job boards offer another viable medium for jobseekers. Some of these are hugely popular and are considered to be among the twenty most visited sites on the Internet. The intention of these job boards is to encourage maximum number of jobseekers to submit their resumes. Subsequently, these very job boards pass on the resumes to various businesses for a consideration. The most helpful features of such job boards are that they enable jobseekers to search jobs as per different keywords. For example, you could search jobs especially in your local area or look for jobs available in your field of specialization. If you conduct a search using words "job boards", you can find a number of job boards.
Search company websites to look for jobs
In case you are keen to work with a particular company, search the website of that company and go to its career section and see if any suitable opening is available for you. You need to go through that ad carefully and follow the stipulated directions while responding online through email or by a hardcopy to be sent through mail.
You may find that the Internet is like a jungle of jobs. But if you proceed in a systematic manner as noted above, you'll be able to simplify your process of job hunting. Here's wishing you luck!

Two Workers For A Job
As parents, we know that work can be completed more easily by sharing the burden and responsibility of getting it done. We are parents and we're accustomed to juggling tasks in order to raise our children and get the daily household chores done. In our house, it's pretty much an even split, although some days I must admit that I think my husband seems to do just a little bit more than me around the house (big brownie points coming my way for the PDA). The juggling act and necessity to multitask is what makes parents one of the best employee options to be considered for job sharing.
So what exactly is job sharing?
Job sharing is where two people share the responsibilities of one fulltime position. You don't necessarily need to change jobs, often your current position could be redesigned into a job sharing position.
The big question is - can anyone be successful at a job sharing work arrangement? The answer is Yes! Anyone can be successful at job sharing, but this type of work arrangement requires certain skills in order for it to work successfully for the two people sharing the role, and the business willing to consider the opportunity. Here are some ideas to consider when you're thinking about proposing a job sharing work arrangement with your employer;
Can the job be logically split on a task, time or customer basis? If the job is shared, can contact with customers and co-workers be handled effectively? Can there be sufficient continuity between the two employees sharing the job?If all of these criteria can be met, then your position has the potential to be shared and it's time to begin preparing to approach your employer.
Over the lunchroom table is not the time to casually raise this idea. Job sharing is a serious business consideration, so it requires a well thought out and planned proposal, concentrated largely on highlighting the benefits for the business rather than for the employees involved.
In creating a proposal, ensure that you prepare in advance by asking yourself questions from your employers point of view. By looking at the situation from their perspective, you are more likely to achieve the outcome you are seeking. Let's face it, you're already convinced that job sharing will work for you, the flexibility, the time you gain with your family, they are strong motivators, but they are all about you. To get your proposal moving in the right direction, here are some questions to get you thinking from your employers perspective;
What number of hours will be worked by each of the job-sharers? - It's also important to detail how variations will be managed, including annual and personal leave. Remember, from a business perspective, this is a full-time position. What days will you each work? - It's an obvious question, however detailing the schedule will provide comfort to your employer, especially if you provide additional information such as managing handover, including the ongoing management of tasks and responsibilities already underway. The workflow needs to continue regardless of who started the task, so an open, honest and close working relationship with your job-sharer is crucial. How will your colleagues manage communication and interaction? - By demonstrating that you've thought long and hard about the impact this change will have on others, you are providing comfort to your employer that this decision is not all about you and your desire for flexibility. From a business perspective, it's important to consider how your colleagues will interact and work with the job-sharers. Naturally, you will need to access each others information, so be sure to detail that provision be made for both people to have access to everything, including computers, emails and locked cabinets. How will the job-sharers manage the role? - Detail whether you will be owning responsibility for one project or will you be working in the same capacity in the role and managing workflow as required? What are your ideas in relation to salary and benefits? - While discussing salary and benefits can at times be awkward, it's important to be open and honest upfront about how you see the fulltime salary and benefits being divided between the job-sharers. It might be worth discussing this with your payroll department to better prepare your proposal in this area. Before sending in the proposal, do some research and see whom you should present your proposal to. While it's necessary to inform your direct supervisor of your intentions of proposing a job sharing arrangement, you might be required to present your proposal to the head of your company's human resource department.
If you need a little more motivation to get your proposal started, think about including the following points in your proposal:
Double the talent - imagine two people combining their experience, talent and expertise to fulfil your role. It's undoubtedly going to improve the work produced, bringing a new level to the position.Continuous work flow - providing you and your job-sharer negotiate the finer points prior to formalising the contract, you can almost guarantee continuous work flow for the business during annual leave, sick leave and other absences. Worst case, if your job-sharer moves on, you have the comfort of part-time coverage for the role. It should be noted that loyalty and retention are generally high and absenteeism is low among job sharers. Most importantly, make sure that you focus on showing that job sharing will work smoothly, easily and effectively for the business and then prove it to the business and help others gain the confidence to present successful proposals of their own.

Canada Immigration: The Pride of the Maple Leaf
A lot of opportunities await immigrants in Canada. Aside from being a prosperous and strong nation, the country is also known for its economic diversity, political stability, abundant natural resources, and respect for democratic institutions. It offers exciting and boundless opportunities to immigrants who want to experience a dynamic and rewarding quality of life.
Why Immigrate to Canada
Canada immigration provides better future prospects to people worldwide. Aside from being one of the most thriving countries in the world, its sound financial system also helps business organizations and individuals realize their dreams and achieve excellence in a global scale. While other Western countries cut back on immigration, Canada's post-recession economy, on the other hand, demands a higher number of migrants. In fact, the country's soaring reputation extended into different parts of the world and welcomed 156,077 economic settlers and 56,419 family class immigrants in 2011 to better meet the labour market needs. Moreover, it provides skilled workers various job opportunities in three main sectors of the economy, such as service and tourism, manufacturing, and natural resources.
Tourism and Service Industry. Due to its land's unparalleled beauty, Canada welcomed the greatest number of legal migrants and tourists in more than five decades after the economic recession in 2010. Its tourism sector generated $73.4 billion in revenue and represented 2 percent of the country's overall gross domestic product. Moreover, apart from generating countless economic benefits, international tourism also plays a vital role in promoting the country's heritage and respect for the environment. According to the country's labour statistics, 594,500 jobs were accounted for tourism and service industry, such as accommodations, food and beverage, passenger transportation, recreation, and entertainment.
Manufacturing. The largest contributors to the growing manufacturing industry of the country were the utilization of transportation equipment, machinery, wood, and non-metallic products. According to research, the production of motor vehicles and its parts increased from 1.9% in 2008 to 91.7% in 2012.
Natural Resources. The country is also known for its abundant natural resources, such as forests, minerals, metals, and energy. It is the leading exporter of resource-based technology that contributes to the well being of countries in different parts of the globe. In 2010, the natural resources sectors contributed $86.1 billion to the country's total trade balance.
The Breathtaking Sceneries
Aside from the nation's rich natural resources, forests, farms, fresh water rivers, national and provincial parks, and marvellous ocean vistas, Canada immigration also provides visitors an excellent tourist experience. Here are some of the most visited places in the country:
- Niagara Falls
- Harbour front Centre
- Grandville Island
- Stanley Park
- Vieux Port
- Exhibition Place
- The Forks
- Banff National Park
- Mont Royal Park
While beautiful places highlight the supreme attraction of the country, its excellent free social services to the public, including consultation, language training, child care, legal aid, settlement, and entertainment services are among the many reasons why Canada is a sought-after destination. People cannot just easily explore the country's beauty; they can also effortlessly travel by air, rail, ferries, and highways to different parts of the world, for instance, the United States and Europe.

The Work at Home Experiment
Caretaking, Cleaning, Errands; Total fee required - $0
I recently joined a website created by a man called Done.com. You can apply to have your post made directly onto the site for the jobs you wish to service to others. I've applied to this website, offering services of running errands and party planning.
What I liked most about this website is that there is no start up cost or gimmick to get you to join. You simply apply with your information and it is then reviewed to be posted. Like many of the others I've tried, you create your own work hours, but with this one you create your own pay rate as well. I was able to decide what hours I was available and after my application, Done.com helped me with the rest. Out of all of the work at home opportunities I've explored, this is by far the easiest and cheapest.
In home parties for women; Total fee required - $299 to $1,299
Twelve years ago I was introduced to these at home parties. These "Fun Parties" were created specifically for women to have the ability to work from home. At that time it was exclusively for women, but as time has changed they are now also for the men to be involved as well. My interest in the money that the women were making peaked and so I decided to join.
At first, I paid $300 (plus taxes) for a basic start up kit. I borrowed my leaders kit so that my display for my shows would bring in additional money, as the start up kit didn't include a great deal of products. Over time I invested money I made (which was around $20 to $300 each order) to better create a more attractive display.
However, this wasn't easy to do because seven years ago consultants were only brought into the company with 10% from a start up kit. Four years had passed and after a brief Fun Party hiatus, I decided to rejoin the race but this time with a different company. I met Patty Brisben and joined her franchise called Pure Romance.
With this company, I came in at 40% profit and stayed with them for a little over a year. Once the economy decided it was going to slow down like snail, I took another hiatus. As I looked into the Fun Party business again recently, I noticed that during certain peak times of the year, a consultant can sign up with a low end kit at as much as I made three years ago- at 40% profit with Passion Parties.
With these parties, I could make anywhere between $15 to $2,000 a party depending on the orders that came in. These parties were nice because I could make instant profit. Unlike many other work at home companies, I had cash on hand from each order and didn't have to wait on payment to load onto a card.
Babysitting; $50 to $200 paid weekly
So as a mom I find it a struggle to find a good sitter with decent prices, so that I am able to work outside the home. This gave me the idea to just stay home with my little ones and be the babysitter. Once I'd gotten the idea, I thought it was brilliant. I already had the extra room that I'd turn into the classroom/playroom and an area for them to eat, so a place would be simple.
Funding food would be another story, I knew I had to manage my finances so that I would not break myself at the end of the week. I started with a budget of $100 weekly for food for the little ones and an extra $50 for any other necessary essentials.
With knowing what it's like to find a trustworthy sitter for a reasonable price, I decided to charge $10 per day, per child. The parent was also required to provide the child's diapers and such. This job is a great one because I can control how many children I take in per day and the hours as well.
I made a profit of $50 to $200 a week, depending on how many children I had per week. This job also allowed me to be at home with my children, which saved me a total of $400 a month, which I considered fantastic!
Sell it on Etsy; Profit $20 to $200 monthly
I like to consider myself to have a rather crafty hand, and when I heard about Etsy.com a few years ago I thought it would be awesome to have my products sold there. The scrapbook pages that I'd sold seemed to sell well at $5.99 each, which I considered to be a reasonable price.
Once the customer purchased the item, I sent them the file directly and they were able to print it off to use. There was no shipping on my part required which saved myself and the consumer around $1.99 to $5.99, however I was selling a product they could print off themselves instead of one to be received at their residence.
Also by selling scrapbooking material, I was saving myself time because I didn't have the worry of keeping up with the demand of creating the product over and over. Had it been hairbands for example, it may have cost me around $20 for the cost of material and an additional $7 an hour for the labor to create them.
Is IBPS Reducing Recruitment Duration?
In the last couple of years, the IBPS has become a standardized qualifying factor for selecting eligible candidates for banking jobs in India. The IBPS score card allows the candidates to apply to various public and private banking institutions.
Before the existence of IBPS examination format, all the Indian public and private banks used to conduct their own examination, followed by an interview. However, the extensive duration of the process hampered selection. Some banks used to take more than a year to fill few vacancies. This used to affect the productivity of the banks severely.
The IBPS exam improved this and successfully reduced the recruitment duration. Now-a-days, the banks can complete their whole recruitment procedure in a matter of three to four months. This is a huge improvement from the previously extensive time taken by banks to fill up bank job vacancies.
How Does IBPS Work Now?
The IBPS agency conducts the written examination twice a year for both clerical and probationary positions. Anyone who is a graduate with qualifying marks, a citizen of India and above 21 years of age can sit for this exam.
Once the exam is clear, the institution hands over a scorecard to the qualifying candidates. Right now, about 19 public banks shares affiliation with the IBPS system. This means that the qualifying candidates can directly apply for the vacant positions showing the scorecard, which is valid only for a year. If any candidate cannot get a bank job within a year of clearing IBPS, the candidate sits for the examination again.
Anyways, not only the 19 public banks, but the private banks also look for IBPS pass candidates as a preferred employee. Most of the private Indian banks these days look for IBPS candidates because it saves their time as well. They do not have to conduct a written examination unless they want to. What remains is the interview only, and hence, the IBPS helps to reduce the recruitment duration in the private banks as well.
Only the State Bank of India (SBI) and Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI) are the two banks which conducts its own separate written examination and interview.
Preparing for IBPS
Now that the swiftness with which IBPS is constantly reducing the duration of banking candidate recruitment, let's see, in brief, how a candidate can prepare for IBPS exams. There are many teaching centers which claim to specialize with helping students clear the exam. One can join these institutes, obviously, but self study too forms an important part of preparation for not only bank exams, but any other competitive exam.
Reasoning, mathematics and English are the subjects with high difficulty level. Only practice can help to clear this paper. Also, the candidate has to be very good in general knowledge to attempt the same paper.
Overall, the IBPS definitely helps to reduce the duration of bank recruitment. The need for IBPS is more pronounced now because a large section of banking employees will retire by 2015 and banks need eligible candidates to fill up the new bank job openings.
Branding Corporate Identity - Impression and Expectation
Visual impression attracts potential clients. Each logo, brochure, and advertisement must be your business advantage.
What's your worth?
Branding corporate identity is essential to business success. Most clients seek services and purchase products based on their perception of a company. A "brand" is what customers think when they hear the name of your business. Is it quality service? Is the price affordable? Is the product world-class? And so on. These are the questions that arise when a customer sees information that relate to a product. Thus, it is crucial to create a positive image that will help promote your business to others. A business' visual identity must demonstrate the business worth, value, and ambition of the organization. An appropriate image is important to effectively promote any business.
Is that a promise?
Competition in business has been fierce with the country's economic condition. It is a challenge for most companies to exceed customer's expectations without compromising the state of the business. Branding corporate identity is equally important to have a competitive edge for business success, customer satisfaction, and profit gain. It is the emotional link between the business and your client. Your brand must emphasize what makes it different and why it is the best choice. A brand must convey the right message and live up to its promise to its target audience. A good example will be the following famous brands that relate to its clients:
· Apple Computers - "Think Different"
· American Airlines - "Something special in the air"
· BMW - "The Ultimate Driving Machine"
· Citibank - "The Citi Never Sleeps"
· Disneyland - "The happiest place on earth"
· Energizer - "It keeps going, and going, and going... "
· Facebook -"Connect and Share with the people in your life"
· Ford - "Everything we do is driven by you"
· Gillette - "The best a man can get"
· Hershey's - "There's a smile in every Hershey bar
· Honda - "The power of dreams"
· IBM - "Solutions for a small planet"
· Jaguar - "The art of performance"
· Johnnie Walker - "Keep walking"
· Kit Kat - "Have a break. Have a Kit-Kat"
· M&M Chocolates - "Melts in your mouth, not in your hands"
· Nike - "Just do it"
· Nokia - "Connecting people"
· Pepsi - "The choice of a new generation"
· Reebok - "I am what I am"
· Samsung - "Digitally yours"
· Yellow Pages - "Let your fingers do the walking"
· YouTube - "Broadcast yourself"
The "tagline" says it all
One of the most important considerations in branding corporate identity is having a distinct tagline that captures attention and entails what a business offers. A customer's "word of mouth" is an advantage to effectively promote your product and service. Thus, taglines are powerful words that can simplify complex messages to your clients. It has to create awareness and an element of quality for the product. A tagline has to be memorable, meaningful, and relevant. Potential clients will not read a three paragraph mission statement tagline. Choose phrases that you can recite in a conversation and even while you sleep. In creating a brand identity, it is significant to positively capture your client's emotion. It is crucial to have an effective tagline. It must not create confusion among your competitors. Branding corporate identity is accomplished through unique and meaningful business promotion and the quality service experience for each client.

What High Paying Green Opportunities Exist For Veterans?
Many people when asked what a "green job" is would most likely reply with something along the lines of solar panel installation or wind turbine technician and while those are certainly green jobs in the truest form, there are far more jobs that fall under the green or clean-tech industry that Vets could excel within.
Of course a vast majority of newly trained Veterans will likely seek employment in these more well-known fields with 3-6 months of hands on technician training, there also exists green employment opportunities for higher trained and more specialized Veterans as well. This article will speak to those opportunities vice the more traditional and well-known routes. Taking a far less restrictive view of "green jobs" quickly illuminates the possibility for consulting work along green building, green transportation and also green process management.
Within the realm of green or clean-tech process management we find an advancing field of LCA or Life Cycle Assessment, which in essence moves to provide for consumers the missing components of information in regard to the impact that a manufactured product and its components and all of the industrial processes necessary to create this product, have on the environment. By stripping a product apart to each component used, the process for accumulating and acquiring the raw materials, the manufacturing of each component and the assembly of these components, the distribution and also the disposal impact of this product, consultants are able to provide for companies and consumers alike a detailed and never before seen look at the true environmental, social and ethical impacts of the products we buy each day.
Many companies since the start of the 2000s have moved to incorporate some form of environmental PR and marketing program, whether it is LEED certifications for their headquarters buildings or Energy Star stickers on products, and this will continue into the foreseeable future. Being able to educate and consult for companies on what certifications are worth the most in terms of cost benefit analysis as well as aligning products with new higher visibility ratings that take into account the impacts that everything from the overseas working conditions for the employees that mine the raw materials to the "cradle to cradle" recyclability of the product will open up numerous opportunities for employment.
Many Veterans come out of the military with at least some exposure to the Lean Six Sigma and Six Sigma thought processes and in general the military is well versed in streamlining processes such as supply chain management, information management and communications and network structure. With this being said I believe there are numerous Veterans leaving the military with adequate training (or could be given the green component to add to their understanding of process management) to provide much-needed consulting in the way of product development process "greening."
As information in regard to a product's environmental impact increase, so will the marketability of a more truly environmentally friendly product. The ability for large complex data sets to be simplified down into easy to identify point-of-sale purchase decisions will force innovative companies to take a hard look at the "true" green nature of their products and not hide behind the "green-washing" that dilutes many consumers now from trusting these eco-labels any more than the "no trans-fats" label on a box of donuts.
As market pressures continue to push companies to make their entire product cycle more green and not just a single aspect of it without regard for the remainder of impacts, it will be available for those specialized in process management, green building and green transportation to provide for the public and private sectors the information on the real impact of the products and services that we look to still have without the same level of negative impact on the planet we live.

Job Interview Questions That Reveals Needed Facts About Potential Employees
Are you a recruiter presently agonizing on which interview questions to ask that will reveal the required facts about potential employees? Are you a hiring manager who is at loss as to what questions to ask during a job chat that will match a job searcher with the job on offer? Or you are a potential employee preparing with the frequently asked interview questions that will enhance your success during interview sessions? Those of us in the field of human capital management and talent acquisition in particular have known that job interviews are conducted to learn about those attributes that are often not included in the resume or possibly scantily included.
We therefore use probing questions to elicit the required and relevant information from candidates during the interview session. Further, such questions are designed to clarify the information supplied by the candidate in the curriculum vitae. At other times the questions are designed to verify how the candidate will behave in an ideal work situation. Also such questions might be to test the intellectual ability of the job hunter. The objective here in this article is to highlight such interview questions which employers could utilize to seek relevant information from job seekers.
What therefore are those interview questions that reveal what a hiring manager needs to know about a potential employee? What kind of questions should a talent hunter ask that will make a match of the job seeker and the position on offer? What questions should a potential employee prepare with to perform well during an interview session? The following are the interview questions most hiring managers frequently ask which consequently reveals what they need to know about the job seeker.
1. Please introduce yourself? This is one of the most commonly asked interview questions. There is no need to give a complete history about your life. Information about your education, career and current situation is required and these are just what the question is designed to reveal.
2. How did you find out about your last job? This kind of interview question when asked is supposed to provide the recruiter with the information about the method the job seeker utilized in getting the last job. If through networking it will reveal the added value the candidate will bring to the new job. If through job advert it will reveal the intellectual ability of the potential employee.
3. What did you like about your last job before you started it? This interview question is designed to show the recruiter what attracted you to your last job and in the process deduce from the answer the motive behind your desire to join the employer putting the job on offer.
4. Why did you leave or want to leave your last job? This particular question is intended to find out the motive behind your decision to leave a previous employer. The idea is to find out whether the motive was borne out of disagreement with the last employer or pecuniary. A smart candidate should watch how to answer this question. The decision to leave an employer should be to further your career and get a position that will help you achieve the aim, therefore the answer should be tailored along that line. Any answer other than this might be detrimental to your success in the interview.
5. What is your greatest strength? This is another job interview question that can reveal the fact about a potential employee. It is designed to show how you as a potential employee can market yourself. This is basically an opportunity to advertise your attributes. It is akin to a sales presentation. It therefore presents the candidate the best opportunity to sell herself and convince the interviewer that she is the best for the position on offer and a perfect match for it. You should therefore not hold back but tell the interviewer that you are worth being employed. Since the interviewer is looking for work related strengths, you could say for example that you are a problem solver and explain why. You could also say you are a team player and explain why. You could say you are a great motivator and explain why. You need to identify your strengths and possibly identify the greatest amongst them before any interview session.
6. What is your biggest weakness? This question is designed to test your reliability as a potential employee. However, you should not completely divulge your weak points. Neither should you be dishonest by saying you have no weakness. Nobody is born perfect. We all have our weak points. Therefore one smart move is to name one weakness and turn it into strength. For example, you could say one weakness of yours is that you try to be a perfectionist in all that you do and explain. Here you have turned what you claim to be a weakness into strength. Also you could list a weakness and tell the interviewer how you are working hard to correct it. For example you could say your biggest weakness is your inability to acquire a professional certificate and inform the interview panel how you are working hard to correct that having enrolled for a professional membership examination and how you are working hard to pass the examination. However, you should endeavor to make your weakness work related.
7. Mention the relevant skills/experience that qualifies you for this position? This is another job interview question that will reveal the fact about a potential employee. It wants to elicit how you a match with the position on offer. Before applying for a particular position, as an experienced job seeker you must have got several experiences and skills you could share with the interviewer. You need to share all these with the interviewer. If you possess management skill, you need to share it. If it is IT skill you possess, you have to share it. Likewise you have share whatever experience you possess that is related to the job on offer.
8. Is there a kind of worker you cannot work with? This one is designed to find out how selective you are in your choice of work mates. It is designed to find out your interpersonal relationship. A potential employee needs to be very careful when answering this question. If you mention any, you will be labeled as being choosy or not being a team player or a worker that is disruptive of the workplace. The best answer is to say there is none even if there is any.
9. How good are you working in a team? This is also an interview questions which presents the job seeker the opportunity to market herself during an interview session.By answering this question you are being given the chance to tell the interviewer that you are a team player and what part you have played in teams you have worked in. It also provides you the chance to prove that you are a leader and show how you have displayed your leadership qualities.
10. Will you rather be loved by your subordinates or feared by them? This interview question is designed to reveal the leadership qualities of a potential employee to the hiring manager. The question is however very tricky and it requires some tact in answering. If you say you will prefer to be liked, this will bring a kind of nonchalance attitude to the workplace and consequently make it difficult to get the job done because you do not want to offend anybody. In the alternative if you desire being feared, it will get the job done while you are present but not when you are absent. There will be a lot of eye service. The best answer is to say that you prefer to be respected by your subordinates than liked or feared. This way you will get the jobs done quickly.
The job interview questions mentioned above if applied appropriately will definitely reveal the needed information required by any hiring manager from a potential employee. Preparation with these questions will improve the confidence of candidates during the job chat. Further, on the part of the job searcher it will increase the success rate during interview sessions. With the increase in success rate, chances of employment increases. With the increased success in job interviews there is reduction in the period expended on job search and consequently fulfillment. Making a success of your next interview is not as difficult as you might think. To learn how to increase your success rate during interviews with these frequently asked questions, click here!!!!

Also, the number of employed people also went down by 6,000 to around 2.79 Million. Also, compared to a year ago, there are about 8,200 more people employed in MN. The current 5.9% unemployment rate is the highest in MN since November 2011.

Know The Type Of Job Application Letter And To Stand Out From The Crowd
We try to stand out from the crowd by producing an effective job application letter that no one else would produce. Before producing an effective job application letter, we need to understand which type of application to target.
All letters or applications may be divided into two categories namely:-
(1) Solicited and
(2) Unsolicited
An applicant seeking for a job may use one of both of them.
1. Solicited Application
A solicited letter of an application is one which is generally written to apply for a position that is advertised in any form of media by a prospective employer.
Following are a few examples of advertisements from the employers:
"Accounts Officer, knowledge of EDP and Income-tax an asset, Chartered Accountant preferred. Apply Victor Garments Manufacturing Company, Macalister Road, Singapore.
"Wanted an experienced part-time stenographer" any time between 10a.m. and 5p.m. for two hours. Apply with full particulars, copies of testimonials and minimum salary expected to Box 1688, Orchard Point P.O.Box 168, Singapore.
"Wanted a Japanese-speaking accounts assistant", preferably a LCCI, with at least five years' experience. Apply with copies of testimonials, stating minimum expected salary to Box 168, Orchard Point P.O.Box 188, Singapore.
"Large Foreign Shipping Corporation required shipping assistant". Please apply in confidence giving full details, salary requirements, etc. to Box 1688,'The Free Press Journal' Hong Kong.
"Wanted Experienced Sales Representatives" to book orders for consumer products. Please apply to Post Box 1800, Bangkok - Thailand.
"Want urgently" for a reputed secondary school part-time/full-time mathematics/science teachers for higher classes. School hours 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Higher pay according to experience. Phone 16878881. Apply to Box 1788, The Straits Times, Singapore.
The major advantage of a solicited application is that it is confirmed that there is a vacancy available with the hiring company. Besides, the prospective employer normally listed the qualifications, experience, education, job description of the vacancy, such, the applicant can apply for the jobs that close match his/her profile.
There is, however one main disadvantage of such an application and that is that since the vacancy is advertised, there is always a rush of applications with the employers and hence the application of any applicant would be one of many such applications, written in response to the advertisement. The applicant should, therefore, try to present his application in a manner that is better than an average application - rather he should try to make it one of the best applications received by the employer.
2. Unsolicited Application
An unsolicited letter of application refers to a job which has not been announced and published by the prospective employer in any form of media.
This type of application has definitely one big advantage - the application does not stand to that big competition to which an advertised job's application is open. Besides, the applicant can send parallel applications to a few prospective employers concurrently.
There are, however, two disadvantages also:- (1) It is possible that there may be no post existing with the employer at all; and (2) the applicant must figure out himself the requirement and criteria of the candidate in which the employer will be mostly hiring.

Design Business Logo to Devise Company Success
I have read so many articles and blogs on how to design business logo. Some of the advice really works. Though they only discuss the basics, they can help you achieve the perfect image you wanted. Thousands of ideas and concepts are now distributed on different Internet sites. Hope this one will also be able help you.
By far, an interesting and challenging task for any enterprise is to design business logo. It is not only the simple application of the emblem and being creative. The process of creativity is one of the most important factors you need to have in designing. There is nothing simple with and as sensitive as representing a company name using an emblem.
The planning phase must ensure that the unique concept will stand out against other competition. The process starts by putting together all gathered ideas from people who are experts at such procedures.
Behind a Successful Enterprise is a Famous Logo
One of the considerations in this process is having the actual image that portrays the company's character and message. I'm personally amazed with FedEx. You might think it is only a simple text logo, but it has a message. The arrow between the letters "E" and "x" signifies its fast carrier service. Another example is the ice cream maker, Baskin Robbins. The pink texts from the letters "B" and "R" represent the number 31 denoting they have 31 ice cream flavors to offer.
Put Heads Together
Brainstorming is very important because it is the part where all ideas come in. Combination, merging, and sifting are done. In this way, the firm can come up with an emblem that is perfect. Allow the staff to share ideas and roll them into one. Of course, the result must not be far from the company's objectives. To design business logo, the process still ends up in one concept.
Do the Sketching
After choosing and trimming the ideas and concepts, he can start doing his work. Drafting it on a piece of paper is one easy way.
Time for Digital Input
After successfully sketching the emblem, the artist can then transfer the workload to the graphic artist. Digital experts can now play with colors, the graphic, and the template. The sketch that has been drawn by hands becomes the draft. The digitalization process applies all multimedia touches. A finished concept can be saved in any file format. Usually as a picture file, it can be commonly saved as JPEG, PNG, BMP, GIF, PSD, and other file types.
It undergoes extreme scrutiny from the higher members of the board. Suggestions are then carefully weighed based on strengths and weaknesses. Further revisions can then be done to eliminate imagery weaknesses.
Ready for Release
The work is then ready to represent and highlight the character and objectives that have always been attributed to the company. It is highly advisable to have the emblem registered for its trademark. In this way, it will be protected.

Job Search Tips During the Holiday Season
As the holiday season fast approaches, I am sure some of you job seekers are looking forward to taking a much-needed break from applying to jobs while you focus on your holiday parties, family gatherings, and holiday shopping. Before you actually take that break, you may want to reconsider. Think about what it actually means in the big picture of your job search. Did you ever stop to think about how many viable job opportunities you will miss if you put it on hold for a few weeks or months? Whenever you make a decision to go down one path, there is always the path not taken. When you consider your career and the importance of finding a job, holiday parties and holiday shopping do not appear to be that important anymore! By taking off even a few weeks, there is the potential that you will miss out on many viable job opportunities. Here are some tips to help you continue your job search this holiday season:
1. Create realistic objectives. As a first step, you should identify how much time you want to allocate to searching online, submitting your resume, sharpening your professional skills, and doing career-related research. Once you have an idea of what your goals and expectations are, it will make achieving those goals that much easier.
2. Establish a timetable and identify your commitments for the week. If you want to dedicate the right amount of time to your job search during the holiday season, you need to block out specific times during the week to conduct your job search. Treat your job search as a commitment that carries just as much weight as other commitments you have for the week like your gym workout, tennis date, child's play date, or dentist visit. If you are a morning person, block out 1-2 hours in the early morning so you can do research or submit your resume to all of the new postings that went live overnight. This will still leave you plenty of free time to attend holiday parties or go holiday shopping later on.
3. After you block out your time to conduct your job search, make a list of what you plan to do during that time. You can allocate time to contacting a resume writing service to create your resume, conducting research on companies that interest you, and following up on resumes you already submitted. You can also use the holiday parties as networking opportunities to get new leads on potential jobs. If you have an idea of what you want to do during your job search that day, you can easily allocate your time to being productive and achieving your goals.
4. Give yourself a mini-break so you can re-charge your batteries where your job search is concerned. It is much better to take 2 days off rather than 2 months. Give yourself permission to take a short break from your job search. You will see that once you return to searching for a job with a fresh new perspective, you will feel re-energized and more likely to enjoy the job hunt.
The key to proactively hunting for a job during the holiday season is to treat it like any other commitment you have in your life. Your job search is not disposable or something that can be done on and off when you have time. If you have that attitude, you will never have time because something else always comes up. There will be many valuable job opportunities that will be missed simply because you could not find the time to look for them. Your career is an essential component of your persona. It is as much a part of your life as your family, exercise regimens, and holiday social engagements. It requires the same attention and nurturing that other commitments in your life do. During the holiday season, make your job search a priority and you will be landing the job of your dreams in no time!

Until 2011, I had been a Secretary in a small company. I reported to a Director of a division. The work culture was relatively friendly and relaxed. I worked in a Business Park in Northampton. My husband took a job in London and I decided to move to Hertfordshire, so that we could be closer to his new office. This change caused me to make a career change and I want to highlight to those who are making this decision that there are more than just material issues to consider.
I started to find the commute to Northampton too much and I was aware that I could increase my earning potential by moving jobs. At the time, I easily made the decision without considering all of the issues involved. I was totally won over by the opportunity to work in a large modern office and increase in my total package.
I started to circulate my CV and I started to get some interest. I decided to focus on financial services as I heard that the packages were much better. A large multinational financial institution invited me to interview with them.
I jumped at the chance to take this opportunity. I was shocked by the package that they offered me. My salary increased 100% from the pay that I was receiving before and I also got an impressive bonus opportunity. I signed and returned contract as fast as I could. At the time, I felt that there were no issues with taking the 'better' job.
However on my first day on the job, I arrived at the large glass building feeling nervous and excited. The workplace was so much more glamorous than I had ever thought. My desk was outside my boss's office, which was a very well fitted area. However, one thing that I did notice is that not many people said hello or bothered welcoming me in the slightest. In fact, I felt that my neighbours were ignoring my arrival. Even when I went to get a drink in the kitchen, the other PAs were not friendly at all. This was my first glimpse of the problem with my career move. I was now working in a cold, unfriendly environment.
As time went on I realised that there was never going to be the warm friendly environment that I had experienced in my old office. Then I began to experience the next unpleasant aspect of my job, the other PAs were keen to demonstrate their prowess in their job by showing me up. This was not very nice when I first experienced it, but now I just am ready for anything and defend myself.
All in all, I am better off financially, but there are those days where I dread the cold, competitive environment that comes with the salary.
Nevertheless, my example proves that we can all greatly improve our salary and jobs if one is prepared to make sacrifices. However, the sacrifices go beyond moving house and commuting longer into a big city. They can also impact your social interaction and bring you into a stressful environment.
